On December 13, 2023, Palestinians of DFW gathered at Dallas City Hall to pack out the room in support of individuals calling for Dallas to support a ceasefire. Dallas city council was 40 mins late starting their meeting and appeared to be having a tacky Christmas sweater Christmas party before the meeting (in front of everyone). One council member, Chad West, was showing off his skateboard to all the council members and another, Omar Narvaez, was bouncing around with an Ewok puppet. It all felt so insensitive and could not have spoken more into how urgent they feel this is. Once the meeting started, they used a large amount of time talking about the emergency crisis council members’s upcoming retirement and took a very awkward group photo in front of the live audience. The audience stood in solidarity when people rose to speak their 2 mins to the council members. A few people were asked to leave for speaking over their time by a few seconds.
