My daughter Gloria has declared this her "most favorite Chinese restaurant ever". It is frequently referred to as the "spicy beef restaurant" in our house because we almost exclusively order the 麻辣香锅 Sichuan Mala Dry Pot (with beef). We also ordered the pan fried baozi today!

A Quick Trip to Los Angeles
A few images from a short trip to Los Angeles this January
My husband and I had been plotting how I could make a trip to visit my brother and cousin in LA. When our Southwest flights home got cancelled in 2022, we didn’t know this would be the gateway to a trip to the west coast. After the chaos of cancelled flights and a trip extended by 5 days, we received more points and flight vouchers than we knew what to do with!
I asked two friends to come along and it turned into the most lovely ladies trip and artist retreat. We cooked with local and tree ripe produce, hiked the coast in Malibu, gloried in the succulent gardens of Pasadena and indulged in all the dim sum, Taiwanese and Korean food we could.

A short series of photos of Silas and Gloria from last week. For every beautiful moment, there's a "Hmph!" or "waaahhhh" or "⚡Cough ⚡cough ⚡cough⚡" in the background. Sometimes, it's enough for me to just lay down and play nap time instead of engaging with my life. It takes so much hard work to be present and practice thankfulness! Thank you to all the parents out there that are honest about how tough parenting is and the encouragement to keep going!
Dallas Marathon

My husband and our friend Charlie ran the Dallas Marathon with thousands of others in and around downtown Dallas. The moms + babes were able to catch the dads at a few points along the way and at the finish line. It was cold, windy, chaotic, exciting and exhausting (for everyone) but I’m so proud! Best moment was when Gloria said “It’s ok Mommy! I already know Daddy didn’t win!”
Gloria’s Sick Week
A few photos from parenting this week with sick kids.
My poor baby had a really tough week (lice - the shower cap was an attempt at a mayo all day treatment, a bad cold, a stomach flu). Every day was filled with lots of highs and lows for her (enough energy to make a leaf pile followed by a crash with chills and exhaustion , active enough to paint a canvas board followed by staring off into the distance). Silas even went out to Gloria's window and called for her (he refers to her as "Gaaa!!"). Thank you to everyone that reached out and offered support!
Last Day of Kindergarten

We celebrated the last day of school and first day of summer with some dear friends in the neighborhood playing on a splash pad, drinking capri sun and and chatting outside in the shade. I love these sweet moments with friends letting the kids play and be free while we get to have a moment of rest.
